Eddie Howe always comes across as cool. calm and collected in interviews. Even when he's fuming, he maintains that level of cool and professionalism, and it's hard to imagine him throwing his weight around in the dressing room after a bad game.

We're sure he does go off the handle at times, in fact, he and some players have admitted that he can go off, but you'd never guess based on how he comes across.

What we do know about Howe, and something that's not hard to believe, is that the man has very exacting standards, and players either work hard to reach those standards, or they're gone ... Ryan Fraser, anyone?

Most players buy into this philosophy and work hard to reach Howe's lofty goals, but not all have what it takes.

Jamie Miley says Eddie Howe is 'relentless'

Former Newcastle player Jamie Miley, older brother of Lewis Miley, was let go by the club this season when it looked as though he was going to have a breakthrough to the first team after some impressive pre-season outings.

However, it didn't work out for the elder Miley and after a nightmare loan spell at Newport that was ruined by injuries, he now finds himself at Hartlepool United, but it seems as though Jamie Miley doesn't hold a grudge and actually spoke very highly of Eddie Howe when asked by The Chronicle what it was like to work under him.

“He’s relentless. He knows he can get the best out of you so if you’re giving anything less than that, he will be on to you.

“He is really good with the younger lads. People probably don’t see it, but there’s a lot he goes into behind the scenes to try and get the best of you each day in training. You can see that with the young lads to the most experienced ones in the team like Dan Burn.

“Every training session is really intense. If you went up, you knew it was going to be a tough session whatever day it was. It pays off. You have got to train that way to get into the position you are in.”

The Miley family is full of footballing talent

As a Newcastle United fan, Jamie Miley was at Wembley with the other Miley brothers, Mason and Layton, cheering on his younger brother, and the rest of the team as they lifted the Carabao Cup trophy, although Lewis never actually made it off the bench on the day.

"It was surreal. It makes your body tingle. It's something you can't explain. That emotion inside is unbelievable.

"When it's your brother, you look at it differently. It takes a lot more emotion out of you because you know how hard he's worked to get there. Being a Geordie boy, it's something that Lewis and the family dreamed of so to see him do that was an absolute joy."
