Transfer journalist Ben Jacobs has provided an update on Ruben Neves which could be great news for Eddie Howe.

Newcastle United have been long-time admirers of 26-year-old midfielder Ruben Neves and tried to sign the former Wolverhampton Wanderers man before he opted to move to PIF-owned Al-Hilal.

Since missing out on Neves in the summer, Newcastle have seen their big-money signing, Sandro Tonali hit with a 10-month ban and therefore the squad is a man down for the rest of the season.

Newcastle still want Ruben Neves and were looking to loan him in January

Because of this, attention has once again turned to Ruben Neves as Eddie Howe looks to fill the void left by Tonali's lengthy ban.

A loan move in January had been mooted for the man David Seaman hailed as a 'quality player', but since that idea was floated, the disgraceful Premier League owners, who have tried every dirty tactic going to halt Newcastle's progression under the PIF. have conspired to block Newcastle from being able to loan any player from one of the PIF-backed Saudi Pro League sides.

The Premier League owners are set to vote on implementing a ban on 'associated party transactions' on 21st November. If passed, which it's believed it will, it will essentially outlaw any side whose owners have a stake in other clubs from loaning players between them.

Bitter Premier League rivals are voting to block Newcastle from loaning players from Saudi Pro League

It's a move that is clearly directed at Newcastle as the wealth of talent that has moved to the Saudi League and could therefore be picked off by us terrifies the other Premier League sides.

The stars had apparently aligned for Newcastle to land Neves as he's not settled well in Saudi Arabia and Ben Jacobs has suggested that a loan with an option to buy would be on the table were it not for those meddling kids billionaires.

We will have to wait and see what happens on 21st, but there's a strong belief that the rule change will be approved.
