Newcastle United's hunt for cheap labour continues ahead of the summer transfer window.
Financial Fair Play continues to tighten its grip on the Premier League meaning clubs with unfathomable wealth, like Newcastle, are still having to root around in the bargain bin for gems.
As such, Newcastle are currently in talks over signing two out-of-contract players ahead of the new season with Bournemouth's Lloyd Kelly and Fulham's Tosin Adarabioyo still in discussions with the Magpies over making Tyneside their next destination when their current deals expire at the end of the season.
Now, transfer guru Fabrizio Romano has taken to X to provide an update on both moves saying that Lloyd Kelly is the 'priority'.
Romano claims that the deal for Kelly is more advanced than that of Adarabioyo but the confidence is still there that they can get both deals done.
"Newcastle want to sign both Lloyd Kelly and Tosin Adarabioyo as free agents… plan progressing very well and fast.
"Kelly, priority target as #NUFC are optimistic to make it happen very early in the summer.
"Talks also progressing with Adarabioyo as he’s set to leave Fulham."
With a bit of luck, Newcastle can get these deals tied up before the season even ends which will free up the recruitment team to get out there and start working on other incoming moves.
We have no idea what Newcastle's budget will be this summer but we aren't expecting the club to have the huge squad overhaul it so desperately needs thanks to FFP.
Two Premier League defenders coming in for free would be a very good start, though.
