Newcastle United were back on the training pitch on Friday ahead of their meeting with Arsenal live on Sky Sports, with a 4:30 pm kick-off.

Eddie Howe addressed the injury status of his squad in his Friday morning press conference, with no real surprises other than the possibility that Jacob Ramsey may be on track to return from injury earlier than expected.

Both he and Yoane Wissa are still weeks away from a return; however, Jacob Murphy was rested on Wednesday as they manage his minor Achilles problem. The winger may still play a part on Sunday.

The most value-for-money player the Premier League has ever seen (in our opinion), Fabian Schar, who cost a mere £3 million, will miss the game on Sunday as he follows concussion protocols, but the defender is back on the grass with the team.

Fabian Schar is on track to return to action after a 12-day mandated break from playing

Marcus Rashford nearly took Fabian Schar's head off

The Premier League's concussion protocols are very stringent, and given that this is Fabian Schar's second time under them already this season, it seems that the procedure has been doubled.

After taking a Marcus Rashford rocket shot full to the face in the Champions League game against Barcelona, Schar was taken out of the game after the delayed effects caught up to him, after Rashford broke the deadlock.

Regular concussion protocols require the player to avoid playing for six days and there are several hurdles to clear before they are even allowed to be considered to return to action.

Nobody loves a good head injury as much as Fabian Schar

This is Schar's second concussion in a matter of weeks, and therefore, he has to wait 12 days before being allowed to play again.

However, the Swiss defender was spotted back in training as part of the club's training gallery on Friday, which shows that he's progressing well through the steps.

He will not be available for Arsenal on Sunday, but if the medical staff give him the all-clear, he could be back in contention for the Champions League game against Union Saint-Gilloise, but he may have a hard time dethroning Malick Thiaw who has taken his opportunity with both hands.
