The Premier League have continued to mess with the summer transfer window just weeks before it opens, giving Newcastle United and all other clubs in the Premier League and EFL less time to get their deals done.
The summer transfer window will open on 1st June but will close again ten days later for six days while the Club World Cup takes place, allowing the clubs involved to focus on the competition rather than splitting focus with transfers.
It's not really a big deal having the window closed for six days, but the fact that it's for a competition that nobody wanted has caused some controversy.
Now, though, on top of a six-day gap where clubs can't make signings, they will also have an extra eight fewer hours to get deals done.
The Daily Mail has reported that the traditional 11 pm closing time is now going to be brought forward to 7 pm on both deadline days.
The move aims to establish a more normal working pattern for those involved in the administrative side, as some staff members often still work beyond midnight to ensure everything is completed.
While I don't think anybody can be upset by the aim of bringing the deadline forward, there are those who have taken issue with it.
The feeling is that those extra hours could be taken advantage of by clubs outside of England to get deals done.
"However, officials at some clubs believe that the move could cause a myriad of problems, not least by potentially allowing those in other leagues to carry on trading after the window in England has slammed shut.
"There is also a view that, while in a perfect world, business would have been conducted well before the final hours of the window, the reality is that every hour is precious as clubs scramble to get last-minute deals done."
Again, fair points, but how much of a difference are those four hours going to make in the grand scheme of things? If you're leaving it that late, it's on you anyway.
When was the last time we had an exciting end to a transfer window that went up to 11 pm? I can only think of Dimitar Berbatov to Manchester United, and that was aeons ago.
