Premier League fixture change for Newcastle United as TV Overlords make their September selections
Newcastle United have been forced into another fixture change at the behest of Sky Sports as the broadcaster makes its selection for live games in September.
After just three Premier League fixtures in August, there will be an international break in early September, limiting the number of fixtures the TV Overlords could mess with, which is why Newcastle have got away quite lightly this time.
Newcastle will feature heavily in August in terms of live TV broadcasts. Indeed, all three of the Magpies' August matches will be shown on either Sky Sports or TNT Sports.
The international break will be followed by non-televised games at home to Wolves and away to Bournemouth before Arsenal visit St James' Park.
Arsenal's visit to St James' Park has been changed for TV
It's that Arsenal game that has now been changed. Originally scheduled for a 3 pm kick-off on Saturday, 27th September, it has now been pushed back a day.
The new kick-off time will be 4:30 pm on Sunday, 28th September, for broadcast on Sky Sports.
Thankfully, the impact on Newcastle fans is minimal for this one, with it being a home game.
TNT Sports will not show any Newcastle United games in September
TNT Sports have made their selections for September too, and Newcastle remain unaffected by their choices.
Any fixture changes should be communicated in good time to minimise disruption for fans. That often goes out of the window towards the back end of the season when the broadcasters start choosing games with the most impact on the league.
The international break will be the most annoying thing about September, then.
