Former Newcastle United striker Andy Carroll recently signed for fourth-tier French club Bordeaux to help the embattled club back to where they belong.

After falling into administration earlier this year, the six-time French champions had to give up their professional status and start all over again from the fourth-tier of French football.

The club signed former Newcastle United academy player Amadou Diallo who was then followed by another Toon academy product, Andy Carroll who was previously playing at second-tier Amiens.

The move seemingly came out of nowhere but the former England star has wasted no time introducing himself to the Bordeaux fans.

Andy Carroll bagged a brace on his Bordeaux debut

Almost 14 years after signing for Liverpool for £35 million, the 35-year-old still knows how to find the back of the net.

With Bordeaux 2-0 down at half-time against Chateaubriant it fell to Andy Carroll to rescue a point for the former Ligue 1 side with a brace.

Labelled as the saviour for his 88th-minute trademark header that levelled the game, it seems Carroll has already hit cult hero status for Bordeaux.

Bordeaux are still without a win this season

Bordeaux have yet to win this season playing out three draws and a defeat which leaves them in the bottom three, but they'll be hoping now that with towering striker Andy Carroll to aim for in the box, things may change.

We've looked online to see if Amadou Diallo played any part in the game but details around the match are sketchy. It's hard enough to find any site that acknowledges Andy Carroll's involvement and he scored both of Bordeaux's goals.

There are gaps in the lineups online, one being Carroll so we assume the other is Diallo as both are recent signings.
