Newcastle United made an impressive signing for the development squad this summer by landing Korean wonderkid Park Seung-Soo from Suwon Samsung Bluewings.

Plenty of top clubs, including Bayern Munich, were very keen on the 18-year-old who has been dubbed the 'Korean Mbappe', but it was Newcastle who ultimately landed the winger.

The timing was perfect for Newcastle too, as they were just embarking on their tour of Asia, as the deal was wrapped up, meaning that they could parade their Korean signing in front of the Korean fans.

Eddie Howe even handed the youngster a first-team debut for the final 10 minutes of the game against Team K-League in his former home stadium.

We love him already

We were very impressed with Park Seung-soo's brief cameo on Wednesday

It may have only been a brief cameo, but two excellent dribbles which turned the Korean All-Stars' defence inside out gave Newcastle fans a fantastic taste of what's to come, with many already saying he should be thrown into the first team squad.

It's probably a bit soon for that, but we have no doubt that Park Seung-soo would rise to the challenge. The teenager is brimming with confidence as he told KNT Football he doesn't want to emulate Korean footballing legend Son Heung-min; he wants to be his own man.

“I don’t want to be the second someone else. I want to be the first Park Seung-soo. I want to become someone others want to emulate.”

Park Seung-soo gets the assignment

Meanwhile, Park Seung-soo also spoke about his debut and his plan going in, before paying the ultimate compliment to the Newcastle squad.

“I thought it would be amazing to make my debut in Korea, and the manager gave me a great opportunity, so I was able to make a wonderful debut.

“My biggest strength is dribbling. I tried to show what I do best when I stepped onto the pitch. I’m glad the moment I was aiming for came out.”

“When I joined the team, I really felt that the players were physically and athletically perfect! I realised I need to build more strength through additional weight training.

“I want to adapt to the team quickly and work hard so I can make my Premier League debut as soon as possible.”

We are in awe of the kid's confidence and determination, and we hope we see him again in Seoul on Sunday against Tottenham Hotspur to see if he can do it all again. If he can turn Micky van de Ven inside out then just give him Anthony Gordon's spot in the first-team. At least he'll try!
