Geordie defender Paul Dummett has been without a club since he left Newcastle United earlier in the summer following the expiration of his contract.
Other than a couple of loan spells, Dummett spent his entire career at Newcastle before he was let go earlier this year.
Also leaving the club at the same time was another influential figure at the club, Matt Ritchie.
Ritchie returned to where it all began signing for Championship newbies Portsmouth.
Now Sami Mokbel has said that the 32-year-old Dummett could be about to follow Ritchie to Fratton Park.
Dummett had been training with the Newcastle U21s since his contract expired to keep himself fit until he found a new club.
As well as Ritchie, there'll be another familiar face awaiting Dummett at Pompey as they recently signed former Newcastle striker Elias Sorensen who spent five years on Tyneside in the reserves before moving on to Esberj in Denmark.
The former Toon trio will be hoping to help Portsmouth at least consolidate their place in the Championship after making their return.
The Newcastle connection doesn't end with those three either as there'll technically be another familiar face for Dummett to gaze upon after Jacob Murphy's twin brother Josh Murphy joined Portsmouth too.
Murphy scored the goals that saw Oxford United promoted to the Championship via the play-offs but moved to Fratton Park in the summer.
