It was wins all round for Newcastle United at the weekend with the lads winning 3-0 at home against Wolverhampton Wanderers and the lasses beating Stoke 4-1 away.
The women's team are flying high at the top of the FA WPL Premier Division with a nine-point lead thanks to only having been beaten once so far this season.
Meanwhile, the men got back to winning ways on Saturday after a series of draws and defeats in the Premier League in games that they really should have been winning.
Grabbing a victory is one thing, but both teams doing so by three-goal margins makes for a fantastic weekend if you're of the black and white persuasion.
Newcastle United co-owner Amanda Staveley took to Instagram to express her delight and thank the fans for a 'wonderful' weekend.
"It’s been a winning weekend for both of our fantastic teams! It’s wonderful to see all our fans out supporting us as usual, and I’m so happy we’ve been able to deliver a win. Onwards and upwards we go 🖤🤍 #howaythelads #howaythelasses."
The lasses booked their place in the FA WNL Cup final last week with a 2-1 win over Portsmouth and will now face Hashtag United Women in the final at Kenilworth Road on 23rd March. Not a bad season for their first as professionals.
The men's team are also still on course for silverware in the form of the FA Cup, but face a mammoth test to get their with current holders Manchester City standing in their way.
It's so good to be writing about positive things again. It's been a canny weekend for the Magpies! Howay the lads and the lasses!
