Newcastle United dominated Manchester United at St James' Park in the Premier League tonight.
It was a game that Newcastle should have won more comfortably than they did, but other than a brief heart-stopping moment when Man United had the ball in the back of the net before it was ruled out, it was never really in doubt.
Newcastle dominated possession from the word go. Passing through Man United like they were training dummies and pressing immediately when they lost possession.
All that was missing was that ruthlessness in front of goal.
The St James' Park crowd played their part in spectacular fashion and did not let Man United's goalkeeper Andre Onana settle at all. Every time he touched the ball the crowd were up. If only our players were in the same mood to try and embarrass him by hitting more shots at him.
Anthony Gordon was once again the difference arriving at the back stick to tap in a Kieran Trippier cross, his amazing form continues.
It wasn't all good news though, with Nick Pope having to be taken off after damaging his shoulder diving for a save he didn't need to make thanks to a stunning block by Fabian Schar who had an amazing game. Lewis Miley was fantastic once again, gutted our prediction of him scoring didn't come off but we can't fault the kid.
Alan Shearer put it best at full-time:
"Only one United wanted and deserved to win that . Toon Toon black and white armyyyyyy. Battered them from start to finish."
It should have been more, but 1-0 is still a win and that win takes us up to fifth in the Premier League for at least tonight.
