Newcastle United travel to Merseyside to take on Everton at Goodison Park for potentially the final time in the 5:30pm Saturday kick-off live on Sky Sports.

Eddie Howe is hoping that the lessons have been learned from the away game at Fulham and that the strong, impressive performance against Manchester City wasn't just a one-off.

Meanwhile, Everton come into the game off the back of their first Premier League win of the season which makes this an interesting tie.

The added spice of Anthony Gordon leading the line for Newcastle will certainly add a bit of heat to the occasion.

Pundits are really struggling to separate the two sides

However, pundits are having a hard time separating the two teams with both Paul Merson and Jeff Stelling predicting a 1-1 draw. Now Chris Sutton has made his prediction for the BBC and guess what...?

"I’ve got a big coin here and I am just tossing it up. That’s how hard it is to call this one.

"Newcastle produced their best performance of the season against Manchester City last week, but can they back it up here? I am not convinced they will.

"Everton will be buoyed after getting their first win, over Crystal Palace. Iliman Ndiaye looks sharp in attack and they have Jarrad Branthwaite back fit in defence, which I think is big.

"I really don't know what to expect, so I am going to sit firmly on the fence and go for a draw.

Newcastle must not revert to the pre-Manchester City performances

That's a trifecta of pundits going for a 1-1 draw now. Do they have a point?

It seems that the so-called experts are leaning towards the idea that the performance against Man City was just a fluke and they expect Newcastle to revert to the football they were playing at the start of the season.

Newcastle simply cannot afford to revert to that level of performance. We absolutely were lucky to get the points we did before the wake up call at Fulham. We hope the lads can put together a strong performance to prove the pundits wrong.
