'No idea': Exciting Newcastle United winger admits he doesn't know where he'll be next season but he has a clear goal

In one of the swiftest in-and-outs we've ever witnessed, Newcastle United signed exciting young winger Yankuba Minteh in the summer and before the ink was dry on that contract he was loaned out to Feyenoord.

It's safe to say that Newcastle don't often seem to have great success when it comes to loaning out players. For every Elliot Anderson who exploded at Bristol Rovers, there's a Garang Kuol who is on his second loan disaster already.

However, we think we can place 19-year-old Yankuba Minteh more into the Elliot Anderson category as the Gambian forward has found himself gaining plenty of minutes for the Dutch champions as they hunt down PSV at the top of the Eredivisie.

Minteh already has a Champions League goal to his name

Minteh has bagged seven goals and three assists in the league as well as a Champions League goal, and while there are still aspects of his game to work on, Feyenoord manager Arne Slot is very happy with his progress.

That's led to Newcastle fans hoping he'll be given a shot at Newcastle next season, although it's more likely that Eddie Howe will take a look at him in pre-season before sending him out on loan again to further his development.

This is something that Minteh himself accepts, but he has said to Voetbal International (via Sport Witness) that his aim is it to play for Newcastle United in the Premier League.

Minteh is willing to wait for his chance

“Ultimately the Premier League is my goal and Newcastle United is the club that has a lot of confidence in me,” he said.

“I have no idea what the future looks like. I was in Newcastle once, when they played against Borussia Dortmund. I will hear soon what plans the club has for me.

“I’m still young, I have time, maybe they want to rent me out again. I don’t know yet, I’ll hear about it, I’ll let everything happen to me. I know only that one day I will play in the Premier League.”

We'd love to see him in action for Newcastle, but we're also very aware that the step from the Eredivisie to the Premier League is vast - we've seen that first-hand with the likes of Siem and Luuk De Jong who couldn't replicate their form for us.

With a bit of luck we'll be able to find a place for him in a top-half Championship side next season so he can get a good feel for the English game, that's if he doesn't blow Eddie Howe away in pre-season. We know he's not scared to give the young'uns their shot if he thinks they're ready.
