Newcastle United supporters are hoping to get their first glimpse of record signing Nick Woltemade in action on Saturday as the Magpies take on Wolverhampton Wanderers at St James' Park in a traditional 3 pm Saturday kick-off.

Woltemade's £69 million switch from VfB Stuttgart wasn't completed in time for him to feature against Leeds United and then the international break followed immediately after.

Even the German striker's new teammates have had to wait to get a look at what the 6'7" forward, nicknamed Woltemessi, can do.

The squad is coming together after everyone returned from international duty throughout the week, with Woltemade returning to duty on Tuesday for Newcastle.

Nick Woltemade has impressed with his attitude

The club posted a clip of Woltemade in his first training session with his new teammates, and it looked like he was fitting right in.

Now, George Caulkin, journalist for The Athletic, has spoken about Woltemade on the Pod On The Tyne podcast and shared how the rest of the squad have taken to their new arrival.

“One of the things people inside the dressing room, around the first-team, are saying about Woltemade is that they love his attitude.

“The smile you see on his face in all the pictures is a reflection of who he is. He seems very comfortable in his own skin.

“They do not want to demand too much of him from the start. They want to ease him in.”

It sounds like Yoane Wissa will be the main striker this season

What Caulkin said about easing him in goes along with what we've been thinking, that Yoane Wissa will be the main striker for much of this season, with Woltemade being mainly a backup.

He will get his opportunities, for sure. I wouldn't be surprised if he starts in the upcoming Carabao Cup clash with Bradford City, for example.

The weight of expectation after such a big move must be massive, but Woltemade expressed in his first interview that he likes pressure, so let's see how he handles it.
