Eddie Howe has named one of the strongest looking match day squads in a while today as Newcastle United take on Burnley at Turf Moor at 3pm. There is no live UK TV coverage.

Joelinton, Miguel Almiron and Nick Pope return to the squad after lengthy layoffs but it's the fact that Howe has gone with Alexander Isak and Callum Wilson together that will be the big talking point.

The returning trio all have to make do with places on the bench but we expect we'll see the two outfield players at some point with Pope likely to return to the starting lineup next week.

Jacob Murphy get the nod over Harvey Barnes and Miggy, which is about as typically Eddie Howe as things get.

Looks like some kind of 4-2-4 system

Howe has made a couple of calls we don't agree with

It appears like Howe is opting for some form of a 4-2-4 system or maybe even just a good old-fashioned 4-4-2 making Murphy and Anthony Gordon sit a bit deeper.

Overall it's a positive side but seeing Sean Longstaff in over Elliot Anderson and Jacob Murphy over Barnes or Miggy knocks us a little bit sick.

However, at least it means that our bench is strong.

Newcastle's bench looks strong

Youngsters Joe White and Alex Murphy are on the bench again, but this time Howe has a wealth of first-team options available to him which has been a very rare thing for him this season.

Former Newcastle target Sander Berge starts for Burnley who could see their Premier League journey practically ended today if Newcastle bag the win.

The Magpies need to keep the pressure on for Europe but it's not going to be easy as Burnley are refusing to go down without a fight.
