We do love a good laugh at the NUFCFEED offices and we've had one today courtesy of a report that came out this afternoon.
There has been plenty of news surrounding the future of Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe in the wake of all the reports of a falling out with new sporting director Paul Mitchell.
Depending on which report you read will depend on whose job is on the line, when in reality the two are working together to come up with the ideal working dynamic.
In fact, just today it was reported that the two have met this week to iron everything out and come up with a strategy. The 'civil war' saga is ending.
Enter Football Insider who have now reported that our good pal Sir Jim Ratcliffe is watching closely and considering sacking Erik Ten Hag and replacing him with Eddie Howe.
I was going to say you couldn't make this up, but someone clearly did.
Football Insider's good old sources have said that Man United are monitoring Howe after his boardroom bust-up... what boardroom bust-up is that? Do you mean the slightly uneasy start to a brand new working relationship that began in the middle of one of the most stressful periods in the football calendar?
If we thought the relationship between Paul Mitchell and Eddie Howe got off to a rough start, we only have to look back at that of Howe and Dan Ashworth. Howe could barely contain his disdain for the wee man, he's hardly going to jump at the chance to work with him again.
We have nothing against people writing stories like this as an opinion piece but why run it as something factual and try to back it up with "sources have told us"?
That could be literally anybody and without direct quotes it means precisely nothing to anyone.
Still, it gave us a chuckle, so there's that.
