Fabian Schar was Newcastle United's first participant in Euro 2024 as Switzerland brushed aside Hungary on Saturday.

We weren't expecting to see Fabian Schar in action as reports from earlier in the year had heavily suggested that Schar had been told that his role in the National team would no longer be that of guaranteed starter, but The Toonminator played the full game as the Swiss ran out 3-1 winners in their first group game of the tournament.

That being said VAVEL were pretty harsh in their scoring of Schar's performance giving him just a 6/10 and calling him 'unremarkable'.

Regardless of the impact he had on the game, there's no doubt that Fabi needed to unwind after an intense 90 minutes, although we're not sure he needed to share that with us.

Some players take a long bath but whatever floats your boat, Fabi

In a now, unsurprisingly, deleted post on X, Fabian Schar came a cropper of not proofreading his post before hitting the send button and it seems his phone changed the word "win" to something entirely different.

We can't help but feel sorry for the fella here, it's one thing to drop these clangers in a text to your mate, but when it goes out to your 142,000 followers around the world, it's quite another.

Unless of course that's what he meant to write but was told to take it down by his PR team, in which case, fair play, Fabi. Fair play.

Switzerland could qualify from Group A on Wednesday by beating Scotland

Switzerland take on Scotland on Wednesday at 8pm, so we'll see how nice and refreshed Fabi is for that one as they look to pile more misery on Steve Clarke's side after a nightmare start to the tournament.

Another win for Schar's side would see them qualify from the group while we'd expect hosts Germany to do the same as they take on Hungary in the 5pm kick-off.

Should the Swiss make it through with a game to spare, imagine how Schar's going to celebrate that one!
