There are three things that are certain in this life: death, taxes and Fabian Schar picking up a head injury during a game.

The Newcastle United defender, despite being such a handsome chap, really has no care whatsoever for his face and will stick his head into any challenge with no thought as to the possible negative consequences.

We see it week in week out for Newcastle, it's almost a game in itself trying to predict what minute we'll see the £3million defender lying on the deck holding his head.

In fairness to him though, he always gets back up and keeps going, hence his moniker The Toonminator here at NUFCfeed. At Euro 2020 Schar was knocked out cold after a clash of heads in a game against Georgia and after some treatment at the pitchside when he came round, he got up and kept playing.

Fabian Schar played almost three-quarters of the game against Scotland with a broken nose

That's precisely what the Swiss international did on Wednesday night while representing his country at Euro 2024.

In the game against Scotland in which Schar was almost credited with an own goal before UEFA changed their minds and gave it to Scott McTominay, the Toon centre-back clashed with Anthony Ralston and ended up breaking his nose.

We saw the Swiss leave the pitch with a bloodied nose before returning to action shortly after.

Schar played out the rest of the game as his side drew 1-1 with Scotland, and it turns out after being checked over, that he played over 70 minutes with a broken nose.

Despite that injury, he is expected to once again be in the starting lineup for Switzerland when they take on Germany on Monday.

There's just no stopping the man who seems to enjoy the pain if his post-match interview with Swiss Broadcaster Blue Sport is anything to go by.

"My nose is broken. I will feel it more tomorrow. It was an intense game. That brought out my passion a little. That's part of it. It's fun too."
