Newcastle United are preparing to welcome Brighton and Hove Albion to St James' Park for an old-fashioned 3pm Saturday kick-off this weekend.

While a few Newcastle players are travelling back to Tyneside after representing their country, the bulk of the squad was back in training at Benton today.

The England representatives, Anthony Gordon, Nick Pope and the well-rested Tino Livramento were back being put through their paces by Eddie Howe.

There were two big names missing from the images who we expected to see, but once again, it could just be part of the mind games.

Lewis Miley is back in training

There was no sign of Isak or Wilson in the training gallery

We were expecting that Eddie Howe would have both Alexander Isak and Callum Wilson back fit for selection for Saturday's game.

It will be the first time that both strikers have been available all season, however neither could be spotted in the training gallery on the official website.

Given how important both players are and that the element of doubt remains over their fitness, it may just be a conscious decision by the club to hide their fitness from Brighton.

Another player who was expected back in training and actually did feature in the images was 'wonderkid' Lewis Miley who has recovered from his double injury blow.

Miley was ruled out of the end of last season with a back injury he picked up on international duty, and then the 18-year-old picked up a foot injury in pre-season.

A bulkier-looking Lewis Miley appeared on a couple of training images today, however Eddie Howe had previously spoken about not rushing him back to action. Howe felt he relied too heavily on Miley last season during the injury crisis, so now that Newcastle have most of their midfield fit, he can afford to use Miley more sparingly.

Hopefully we won't have to wait too long to see him back on the pitch as he was a phenomenon last season and we want to see him kick on.
