This morning, Newcastle United learnt of their fixtures for the 2024/25 Premier League season with success vital due to the lack of European football.

The Magpies finished seventh in the league last season, losing out on the Europa Conference League due to Manchester United's FA Cup win in May.

Newcastle boss Eddie Howe's side have already felt the impact of this after they lost out on Tosin Adarabioyo to Chelsea, who will be playing in the Europa League in the upcoming campaign.

But who have Newcastle been put up against in a crucial next season?

Southampton at home to kick off the 2024/25 season

After a difficult opening to the previous campaign, the Magpies have been given an easier ride, kicking off the season at home to newly promoted side Southampton in a repeat of the 2015/16 opener which saw goals from Pappis Cisse and Georginio Wijnaldum.

Ryan Fraser, who spent last season on loan at the Saints but is set to make a permanent move could also feature.

Bournemouth (A), Spurs (H), Wolves (A), Fulham (A) and Manchester City (H) are the opening six fixtures.

Newcastle have been blessed with a home game this Boxing Day, the Magpies will host Aston Villa on the day after Christmas with the Villa surely looking to avenge their 5-1 defeat at St James' Park on the opening day of last season.

A difficult run-in for Newcastle

May looks as if it could be a tough month for the Black and Whites, with Eddie Howe's side potentially facing three teams that could be challenging them for a European spot.

May begins with an away game to Brighton, before hosting Chelsea.

A trip to Arsenal for the penultimate game of the season before a final day clash with Everton at St James' Park to close out the season.

It's a difficult final few games which may already have heightened tensions depending on how the team performs beforehand.

With no Europe, domestic success is crucial for a positive season.
