There's a slight concern for Newcastle United boss Eddie Howe after one of his international contingent has left his training camp early to return home.

There had been mixed reports on Sandro Tonali heading into Italy's showdown with Norway last night. It was known that the Newcastle midfielder wouldn't play in that game to protect him from receiving a booking and being suspended for their first World Cup playoff game in March, but Gennaro Gatusso made it sound like Tonali would be in the stadium with the team, while other reports suggested Tonali had returned home.

That's a moot point now anyway, as Italy's games are all wrapped up, as Erling Haaland bagged another hat-trick as Norway romped away as 4-1 winners. They look like they could be a force in next year's competition.

There is another Newcastle player heading home now, according to a report from Fotboll Skanalen, as Anthony Elenga has left the Sweden camp.

Anthony Elanga has left the Sweden squad

Anthony Elanga withdraws from Sweden squad for 'personal reasons'

Newcastle's £55 million winger is heading home due to 'personal reasons' according to the Sweden press officer.

This is the second time Elanga has withdrawn from the national squad for 'personal reasons' after missing out against Albania in June.

Elanga was very vocal about the style of play under Jon Dahl Tomasson, right before the former Toon striker was sacked and replaced with Graham Potter.

Newcastle fans are waiting for it all to click for Anthony Elanga

It has been a tough old season for the former Nottingham Forest man as he's just not got going at Newcastle since his big-money move in the summer, and it's not clicking on the international stage either.

We just hope that everything is okay with Elanga and that he can get everything sorted as soon as possible.

Newcastle fans haven't given up on him yet, as we all know how good a player he is; he just needs to show it in the black and white stripes.
