In the last transfer window Newcastle United signed 18-year-old Turkish midfielder Baran Yildiz from Gençlerbirligi.

While Newcastle have failed to add any real quality to the first team in the last three transfer windows, the club has been working hard scooping up hot young talent from elsewhere for the academy.

Baran Yildiz and Miodrag Pivas joined this season and Antonio Cordero is due to join in the summer, too.

While the plan is to develop these youngsters into first-team stars, it's expected that they will go out on loan at some point to gain first-team experience, however, Yildiz has told Turkish media that he's ready to fight for a place in Eddie Howe's first team.

Baran Yildiz with, who we hope is his Dad and not just someone who trafficked the kid to Tyneside - hard to tell by Yildiz's face

Baran Yildiz is itching to get stuck into the Premier League

Speaking to Fanatik, Yildiz has set his stall out, saying he doesn't want to return to Turkey on loan, or anywhere else.

“I have no intention of returning to Turkey for the time being. I don’t want to leave if I get an offer, not only from Turkey but also from anywhere in the world. This is the best league in the world, I want to stay here. I want to play against Bruno Fernandes and Odegaard from Manchester United. They are both top-tier players. I want to meet them.”

First of all, somebody should tell him Martin Odegaard doesn't play for Man United, but aside from that, we have to admire the confidence.

A loan is very likely in Baran Yildiz's future

Unfortunately for Baran Yildiz, however, he has Sandro Tonali, Bruno Guimaraes, Joelinton and Lewis Miley ahead of him, not to mention Sean Longstaff and Joe Willock who may or may not still be here next season.

Yildiz may get to experience life in the first-team over pre-season so that Eddie Howe can cast a close eye over him, but we expect that he, and all the other high-profile young signings will be sent out on loan. Unless Yildiz absolutely blows away Eddie Howe, we definitely see a loan in his future.

Maybe Yildiz will get lucky and find a Championship side to play for which would give him a good taste of English football, and with a bit of luck he'll get drawn against a Premier League team in one of the cups. I'm just trying to keep the dream alive for the bairn.
