It seems that it's very rare that Newcastle United get it right when loaning out their young players. In fact, other than Yankuba Minteh's spell at Feyenoord, we can't think of a recent example of a player doing well while out on loan from the Magpies.

Minteh's loan at Feyenoord was perhaps too good, given that Brighton moved to take him off our hands before he'd even so much as trained with the club, but for every Minteh, there's many more stories of middling to poor experiences for other players.

Garang Kuol recently left Newcastle after failing to show any signs of the promise that got him here in the first place, and that was not helped by a string of poor loans and injuries.

More recently, young Serbian Miodrag Pivas was also loaned out to the Netherlands with Willem II, where he made just five Eredivisie appearances as they were relegated.

Pivas is loving life at Newcastle

Miodrag Pivas says he feels at home at Newcastle already

This season, the 20-year-old has stayed on Tyneside and is enjoying his time playing in the Newcastle reserves. Speaking to the club's official website, Pivas has spoken about how Newcastle now feels like home and that he's determined to move on from last season's disappointment.

"I've been at the Academy for a couple of months now and I'm building really good relationships with the staff as well as the players. They have given me a warm welcome and I love being there. The atmosphere in the dressing room is very good and I feel at home.

"I'm very happy after putting a difficult season behind me. I need consistency in playing and the next step, after a tough season in Holland, is playing for Newcastle.

"In every season, you can take something positive. It was a hard experience and things did not work out as people may have expected but I want to look forward now and to enjoy my time with Newcastle. I feel like I'm in the perfect place to learn and gain consistency.

"I scored my first goal for the under-21s [against Reading] and I was really pleased because we were one-nil down and the goal helped us a lot. I gained a bit of confidence and had more belief in myself which was positive."

Newcastle have been scooping up young talent from around Europe

Miodrag Pivas is one of many youngsters the Magpies have scooped up from around Europe with the hopes of developing them into first-team stars of the future.

This summer, Newcastle acquired Antonio Cordero and Vakhtang Salia, who have both arrived with many other clubs chasing their signature before Newcastle swooped in.

Cordero is currently out on loan at Westerlo in Belgium, where he's made five appearances in the Jupiler Pro League. Whereas Salia joined Newcastle at the end of the summer after turning 18 and immediately vanished into thin air. But we're sure we'll get an update on him soon. Right?
