Newcastle United star sitting in WhoScored?'s Team of the Season so far after several superb displays
Bruno Guimaraes was present in the WhoScored? Team of the Week this week, as he was in Alan Shearer's picks for the Premier League, but it's another Newcastle player who is holding a position in WhoScored?'s Team of the Season so far.
WhoScored is a football stats site that tracks pretty much everything every player does and creates a rating based on pure statistics rather than on the whims of a pundit.
As well as putting out a Team of the Week, they'll put out a Team of the Month and keep a running tab on who deserves to be in the Team of the Season.
Obviously, it's a bit early in the campaign to be getting too carried away about having a player in the Team of the Season, given that it's only a couple of months old, but it's a good sign to see a Newcastle player in there at this early stage.
Newcastle might feel robbed at only having one player in the Team of the Season so far
From a purely biased perspective, there could and perhaps should be more than one Newcastle player in the current XI, with Sandro Tonali, Bruno Guimaraes and Nick Woltemade more than deserving of a spot.
Again, though, WhoScored?'s selections are based purely on stats rather than opinions, so it's hard to argue with their selections too much.
The one Magpie in the team so far is Nick Pope. The 33-year-old has only picked the ball out of the net five times in the Premier League so far this season, and those all came against Arsenal and Liverpool.
Nick Pope has been in fine form so far this season
The former Burnley stopper has been in inspired form for Newcastle this season so far, making some tremendous saves and keeping clean sheets for fun, helped in no small part by the new centre-back pairing of Malick Thiaw and Sven Botman.
Pope must be feeling the pressure of having Aaron Ramsdale in reserve, gunning for his place.
We've often said that there aren't many better shot stoppers in the Premier League than Pope. If he just knew how to actually kick a football, he'd be top class.
