Newcastle United star shortlisted for Premier League Player of the Match Week - Vote now
Newcastle United's win over Manchester City on Saturday was one of the most entertaining games of the season so far, and it's therefore no surprise that one significant contributor to that has been shortlisted for the Premier League's Player of the Match Week.
There were a few Newcastle players who we feel could have been contenders for that crown, with Malick Thiaw's flawless performance in defence, making Erling Haaland look like ... well ... Alexander Isak.
Bruno Guimaraes was everywhere for the Magpies too, as the Brazilian put in another captain's performance, registering two assists too.
However, it's the goalscorer Harvey Barnes who has made it onto the Premier League shortlist.
Premier League called Harvey Barnes 'clinical' after two second-half goals on Saturday
There's some tough competition for our man, especially after Eberechi Eze's North London derby hat-trick, but if you cast your vote here, you can swing it in Barnes' favour.
"Harvey Barnes (Newcastle 2-1 Man City)
"Barnes starred in Newcastle United's impressive win over Manchester City, netting twice in the second half, as Eddie Howe's side earned a sixth successive home victory in all competitions.
"The midfielder missed a couple of huge chances in the first half, but was far more clinical in the second, netting from the edge of the area and then applying a close-range finish for the decisive goal.
"He left the field to a standing ovation as Newcastle fans chanted "Barnes will tear you apart again.""
For Barnes to get two goals after missing two huge chances shows strength of character
You have until midday tomorrow to vote; it's free and simple, so why not? Let's give Barnes some bragging rights after a quality performance.
For us, it wasn't just the fact that he scored both goals, but more that he did so after missing two massive chances in the first half.
The fact that he came out for the second half completely unaffected by those misses shows he has such a strong character, and for that alone, he gets our vote.
