Newcastle United can boast another capped England international in their ranks after England defeated Greece 3-0 in Athens in the Nations League.

While full-back Tino Livramento made it five England games in a row as an unused substitute and is still waiting for his first senior cap, his 20-year-old teammate, Lewis Hall, was given 45 minutes to show what he can do.

Left-back has long been a problem area for England with Luke Shaw injured almost as much as Callum Wilson and Ben Chilwell often overlooked, Lewis Hall knows he has the opportunity to take the position as his own now that he's broken into the squad.

Coming on as a second-half substitute in Athens last night, Hall wasted no time staking a claim to the role.

Lewis Hall's parents were in the stands just in case he got on the pitch

We can't think of a single thing Hall did wrong in 45 minutes. He got involved in the attacks but was always dependable at the back making some key tackles and blocks as Greece battled to get back into the game.

Speaking after the game (via The Star), Hall admitted he wasn't expecting to play a part but was pleased his parents made the trip to Greece to watch from the stands.

"Personally, I'm just lost for words really. Sometimes it's difficult in football to really understand what happens. Everything happens so quickly, you don't really get time to sit there and take it all in. At some point I'm going to have to do that.

“My mum and dad were here. I wouldn't say I was expecting (the debut) to come, but I think for them they didn't want to lose the opportunity.

"So, whether it would have to be nine, 10 games where they have to come and watch me not play, I think they'd continue to do that whenever I got the opportunity, and I'm just grateful that I got it here."“My mum and dad were here. I wouldn't say I was expecting (the debut) to come, but I think for them they didn't want to lose the opportunity."

Lewis Hall and Tino Livramento will be looking to dominate for club and country

Lee Carsley has one more game in charge of England left before former Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel takes over.

Lewis Hall was promoted to the first-team under Tuchel at Chelsea so the German is already aware of his quality. Similarly, Tuchel worked with Tino Livramento for a brief while at the Blues, but it was he who ultimately sold Livramento to Southampton.

He has, however, since praised Livramento so if Carsley fails to give Tino any time on the pitch at the weekend, he's still in a good position to be given a shot by Tuchel next year.
