Newcastle United star makes cut as EAFC and Premier League confirm Team of the Season

Newcastle United have been represented in the final picks for the 2024/25 Premier League Team of the Season.

The nominations were announced a few weeks ago and we wrote how Newcastle had been 'done hella dirty', I believe was the phrase Mark used.

Despite being in the mix for the Champions League and potentially a second-place finish, Newcastle only had two players in the running to make the Team of the Season.

Bruno Guimaraes and Alexander Isak made the cut, but the likes of Jacob Murphy, Dan Burn, Sandro Tonali and Lewis Hall were criminally overlooked.

The results are in, and the fans have spoken, and it's hardly any surprise to see Liverpool and Arsenal dominating the team, but there are some rather questionable inclusions too.

First of all, the good news. Alexander Isak made it into the starting XI, as well, he should have.

The Sweden star has bagged 22 goals in the league so far this season and has been widely hailed as one of the best strikers in the world, so for him to miss out would have been insane.

The wrong Bruno was selected in the Team of the Season

Bruno Guimaraes is nowhere to be seen, but the fake Bruno, that is, Bruno Fernandes, makes the bench. How any Manchester United player can be in the Team of the Season is beyond me.

Also, what timeline are we currently living in that Matz Sels can be the pick for goalkeeper in the Team of the Season, and we have absolutely no argument against it? It's truly amazing how much he has turned his career around since his brief stint on Tyneside.

Obviously, this whole thing is a little more than a popularity contest, so we can't take it too seriously, but there are definitely a couple of players who are in here on reputation rather than achievement, Fernandes, well, okay, just Fernandes really. The rest have a legitimate claim to their place on the side.
