Newcastle United were seen collaborating with new commercial sponsor Saudia as they took to the streets to promote their collaboration with Formula E.

On Wednesday, footage of a production crew and a Formula E car were found on social media. The car was presented around a number of areas in Newcastle's City Centre including Monument, Central Arcade, the Quayside and St James' Park.

Could there be a Newcastle ePrix in the near future?

Earlier this year, the PIF announced that they would become more involved in Formula E as part of a new 'Electric 360' initiative to support the growth of electric motorsports.

Formula E is now in a strong position thanks to the announcement, and the expansion of the sport seems to be inevitable.

This begs the question, will there be a Newcastle ePrix sometime soon?

The answer for now is no. But the filming that took place on Wednesday could be the start of more things to come for the city thanks to sponsorships elsewhere.

In October last year, Newcastle announced a multi-year partnership with Saudia.
