Newcastle United sign exciting youngster from Liverpool who Steve Harper says has a 'strong pedigree'
Newcastle United continue to add strength and depth to its academy after making some big signings this summer already.
18-year-old Park Seung-soo arrived this summer to join the Newcastle United academy, but was thrown into the first team during pre-season to attract more eyes on the young Korean back in his home country. Nobody could have predicted just how easily the youngster would slot into the side, and while Eddie Howe is unlikely to do so, there have been calls to keep him in the first-team set-up.
We still await the arrival of Vakhtang Salia, the young Georgian who will join Newcastle at the end of the month when he turns 18, but in the meantime, Newcastle aren't hanging around.
Today the club announced the arrival of 16-year-old England youth international Isaac Moran from Liverpool.
Newcastle have signed 16-year-old Isaac Moran from Liverpool
The defender has already made his debut for Liverpool under 18s and Newcastle have spotted his potential and brought him to Tyneside to continue his development.
Speaking to the club website, academy director Steve Harper was very pleased to add Moran to the ranks.
“Isaac joins us with a strong pedigree and a maturity beyond his years.
“The leadership qualities he has displayed to date speak volumes about his character, and we’re excited to help him continue developing both as a player and a person.
“He’s a driven individual who fits the values of our Academy perfectly.
“Isaac’s addition to the Academy reflects the continued excellence of our recruitment team, whose efforts remain integral to our long-term strategy.”
Newcastle are still building for the future
It will probably be a while before we see the youngster anywhere near the first time, but he'll join the likes of Trevan Sanusi and Alfie Harrison as youngsters we've brought in from elsewhere to keep an eye on.
We may have our issues, but there's no denying that Newcastle are building towards a big future.
When the new CEO and sporting director are announced, we expect updates on everything from the stadium and training ground to an updated transfer strategy, all of which should help with the recruitment of first-team players. In the meantime, it's great to see our academy can still bring in exciting talent.
