While 16 cowardly Premier League clubs voted through the new amendments to the Associated Party Transaction rules which keeps Newcastle United shut out from spending their own money, it wasn't all bad news from the meeting.
Naturally, all the media attention following the Premier League's emergency meeting last week was around the APT vote which went against Newcastle and Man City, there was another item on the agenda that provided positivity for Newcastle, and indeed all the other clubs.
The Premier League are set to shake up the international rights to live games and with it, revenues will increase 17% according to The Chronicle.
That means more money to filter down to clubs with Newcastle's international following rapidly expanding, it could only be a good thing for the Magpies.
As The Chronicle reports, Newcastle's global broadcast figures increased 40% year-on-year last season, and with recent trips to Japan and the USA, that's only expected to continue.
Competing in the Champions League will also generate more interest, which is why it's so crucial that the Magpies bag one of those lucrative places.
In the season in which Newcastle qualified for the Champions League, only Manchester City, Manchester United and Arsenal pulled in more than Newcastle's £72.2 million TV revenue share.
You only need to look at how often the Magpies' fixtures are switched for TV to see how an increase in the overall TV revenues will benefit Newcastle.
We may not be able to land big sponsorships from PIF-owned companies, but at least we're due to pull in a few more million in TV revenue - although there is admittedly quite a gap between those figures.
Still, we have to take our victories where we can.
