Newcastle United see trio called up for England as Thomas Tuchel hands former Magpie Elliot Anderson first senior call-up
Thomas Tuchel has announced his latest England squad, and the German has called up three Newcastle United players.
Both Nick Pope and Aaron Ramsey, who have been in and out of the England set-up, will sit this one out as former Toon target James Trafford takes his place in the squad.
Dan Burn has kept his place in the squad, proving that it wasn't just a stunt call-up when he made his England debut at 32 last season.
Tino Livramento and Anthony Gordon complete the Newcastle contingent for this squad.
England take on Andorra and Serbia next week
The Three Lions take on Andorra at home and travel to Serbia away as they continue their World Cup qualification bid.
Hopefully, they have more luck than the last time out when they were beaten by Senegal back in June.
Former Newcastle star Elliot Anderson has been called up for the England senior side for the first time ever after Tuchel allowed U21s boss Lee Carsley to use Anderson in the summer's Under 21s European Championships, where England defended their crown.
Elliot Anderson is line to make his England debut
It wasn't too long ago that Anderson was representing Scotland at an international level, but as rumours of a potential call-up to what was then Gareth Southgate's England team, Anderson's head was turned.
Despite being called up to the Scotland senior side, Anderson left the camp early before making his senior debut. It was a bold move, but one that has now paid off.
Hopefully, the lad will get some game time next month and make his senior bow. He may not be a Magpie now, but he's still a Geordie.
