Newcastle United are determined to scoop up all the world's top footballing talent at a young age to build for the future rather than going out and buying ready-made stars that cost the earth.
It's a common strategy by big clubs these days thanks to PSR, so while it may sound like the easy way to achieve success in the future, actually signing these youngsters becomes very tricky when other top sides have the same idea.
This is part of the problem that Newcastle face when it comes to their interest in Sporting CP's 17-year-old wonderkid, Geovany Quenda.
Quenda is also being eyed by the likes of Chelsea, Arsenal, Liverpool, Manchester City, Bayer Leverkusen, RB Leipzig and Juventus, so Newcastle will have their work cut out for them if they are to make a move.
The right winger is clearly making the right noises after managing to attract such high-profile attention already, and Sporting are clearly aware of that having inserted a €100 million (£83.5 million) release clause into his contract.
That move gives Sporting a lot of room to negotiate should any club actually come knocking for the Portuguese starlet.
Caught Offside claim that while interest is high in Quenda, none of the aforementioned clubs have actually made any solid moves as yet.
Acting quickly could be Newcastle's best chance if they are truly keen as they could catch other clubs on the hop.
However, former Sporting boss Ruben Amorim is heading to Manchester United and you'd have to imagine that he has a leg up on the competition given his insider knowledge, even though he has claimed he won't be raiding his former club for players.
With two goals and two assists in 18 appearances for Sporting this season, which includes an assist in the game aginst Manchester City in the Champions League, the youngster clearly has the talent so we'll be watching on with interest.
