Newcastle United now look set to offload second striker today as £30m sale of Will Osula looms
We aren't quite sure what's going on here, but it now looks as though Will Osula is about to be sold by Newcastle United for £30 million.
Craig Hope is reporting that the Magpies are in talks with Eintracht Frankfurt over a £30 million sale of Danish Under 21 star Will Osula.
Newcastle have found all summer to bring in two strikers, one to replace Callum Wilson and one to replace Alexander Isak. Now that Nick Woltemade and Yoane Wissa are here, the Magpies look set to release Will Osula.
Initially, a deal had been agreed with Aston Villa, but complications with their PSR battles have made it unlikely, and it now looks as though Osula is heading to Germany.
Newcastle are set to double their money on Will Osula a year after signing him
While on the surface this is good business by Newcastle, doubling their money on a striker who clearly isn't ready for the Premier League, it will once again leave Newcastle short on striker options, as we've discovered so many times before that having just two strikers is simply not enough.
I don't care how many times Eddie Howe tries to convince us otherwise, Anthony Gordon is not a centre-forward.
Craig Hope has said in X that the potential deal with Frankfurt for Osula does include a buy-back clause, so it could essentially work out to be a very expensive way of doing a loan deal.
Anthony Elanga will now have to watch his bestie leave the club he just joined
Anthony Elanga must be fuming. Will Osula was a big reason behind why he joined Newcastle, and now he's got to watch him leave just as he's getting settled.
Unless Newcastle are planning a third striker arrival today, we aren't too keen on this one going through, purely from a squad depth perspective.
Still, in Howe we trust and all that. We're sure it'll work out.
