Newcastle United now linked to £52m Premier League star ... and other fairy stories
It is one of those slow news days here at NUFCFEED. We've been scouring the interwebs for interesting stories to bring you, but we've been so busy laughing at some of the transfer links that we've forgotten to actually write anything.
Newcastle United get linked to a lot of players, and similarly, our players often get talked about with regard to potential exits. It's our job to trawl through those rumours and bring you the ones we feel have some credibility and weed out those that are pure fiction.
However, today has been very heavy on the fiction and not a lot else, so we're going to bring you the three ridiculous stories that tickled our bits on this chilly Saturday morn.
Sometimes we like to dip our toes into the fantasy realm; it keeps us entertained.
Liverpool are being linked with a move for Sandro Tonali ... by Fichajes
The first one was a rumour about a potential high-value exit with good old Spanish site Fichajes, saying that Liverpool are tracking Sandro Tonali. For those who don't know, a good rule of thumb is if you ever see a story that links back to Fichajes, just disregard it entirely, as it's almost certainly made up.
It's Sandro Tonali. As if we're going to repeat the same mistakes we made with Alexander Isak with another top player.
Next up, we have a couple of stories regarding potential incomings that are certainly interesting, but no less ridiculous.
We don't believe the rumours, but that doesn't mean we don't want them to be true
Caught Offside are claiming that Newcastle have entered the race for Brentford forward Kevin Schade, who is being tracked by Tottenham Hotspur and Aston Villa, and could cost up to £52 million.
Schade is a winger, and if there's a position we don't need to bolster this month, it would be the wings. We could see us maybe having a crack at trying to sign Igor Thiago from Brentford, but Kevin Schade makes zero sense to us.
And finally, Jonathan David is back on the radar, according to Sports Boom , who claim that David still harbours dreams of challenging himself in the Premier League despite turning down offers to play in England to head to Italy in the summer.
Things haven't gone according to plan at Juventus for the Canadian, but Juventus have no intention of giving up on the 26-year-old so soon. It may be something to revisit in the summer, but there's zero chance of anything happening this month.
We'd love it if the Jonathan David rumours were true, though, even if he's not in the best form right now, adding a third striker wouldn't be a bad thing.
