Newcastle United now keen on 17-year-old Brazilian centre-forward who is named after F1 star
Newcastle United are continuing their search to build a super team of the future by scouring the globe for exciting young talent.
While the Magpies have recruited very well when it comes to talented youngsters, what they've done with said prodigies after they have signed leaves a lot to be desired, and that's something that needs to be fixed sooner rather than later.
Meanwhile, though, the recruitment charge continues, and a report from Brazilian outlet Lance! has claimed Newcastle and Leeds United are both keen on signing 17-year-old Internacional centre-forward Raykkonen.
The exciting youngster was named after Formula 1 star Kimi Raikkonen, and if he's as quick as his namesake, it's no wonder we're looking at him.
Raykkonen is attracting a lot of interest from around the world
We're sure a move to the Premier League is likely to excite the youngster, but whether either Newcastle or Leeds are ready to take the leap in January remains to be seen.
At such a young age, he may be reluctant to relocate halfway around the world just yet, but having a foot in the door of the Premier League may be too much of a draw to refuse.
It's believed that clubs in South America and across Europe are monitoring his situation, so the Premier League duo would certainly not be short of competition.
We don't see Raykkonen moving to Newcastle any time soon
Raykkonen is only on loan at Internacional, but they have an option to buy when his loan deal finishes at the end of the month, as well as priority should his parent club, Goiás be willing to sell.
Things could certainly heat up in the transfer race for the youngster, but the Brazilian side will feel that they comfortably hold the upper hand.
Right now, this one is stored in the 'unlikely' drawer, but it's a good indication of how far and how thoroughly our recruitment team are looking.
