Depending on what you believe or where you're looking, Anthony Gordon's future at Newcastle United remains in doubt as strong links with a move to Liverpool refuse to go away.

Those claims have been rubbished many times, but they persist and aren't likely to disappear as we inch towards the summer transfer window.

It seems, though, that Newcastle are already planning ahead in case there's another Alexander Isak-type situation.

The Magpies are already looking at left-wing options to acquire in the summer, which you'd think would only make sense if they're expecting to lose either Gordon or Harvey Barnes.

Newcastle are reportedly monitoring Real Betis winger Abde Ezzalzouli

According to a report by Sports Boom, Everton, Aston Villa, West Ham, and Newcastle are thought to be keen on Real Betis winger Abde Ezzalzouli, who operates mainly as a left winger but can play on the right too.

The former Barcelona man is expected to cost up to £35 million in the summer after an impressive season in Spain.

The Moroccan has bagged nine goals and six assists in 26 outings in all competitions this season.

Abde Ezzalzouli has been hailed as perfect for the Premier League

Sports Boom's report suggests that scouts have identified Ezzalzouli's profile to be perfectly suited for the Premier League, but our concern would be that if he's so good, why aren't bigger clubs looking at him?

We also don't see why we'd be shopping for a left winger right now, unless, as we said, Barnes or Gordon are expected to leave in the summer, and if that's the case, surely we want to be aiming higher to find a replacement.

That being said, there have been plenty of players who have found their way to the Premier League after not impressing enough to wow the big sides until they land on these shores, and Ezzalzouli could be one of those. Who knows?
