Newcastle United now considering cancelling open top bus parade with Carabao Cup trophy

Newcastle United lifted the Carabao Cup at Wembley on Sunday, ending years and years of pain. We don't need to go over the numbers; they've been reported ad nauseam, but now the clock has been reset, and they no longer matter.

Fans have waited many years to see a moment like this and it's just as well we're good at waiting as thanks to the international break, the official celebration with the players and staff will take place almost two weeks after the final itself.

The club have a celebration day planned for 29th March, but as yet no official details have been released, but one thing's for sure, Newcastle is going to be a very busy city on that day.

The Telegraph are now reporting that, although we all expect an open-top bus parade through the city, the club are having second thoughts.

Newcastle could opt for an event on the Town Moor

According to Luke Edwards, the club are looking to put on a huge event on the Town Moor rather than parading the trophy through the streets.

We can see the appeal of both plans. An open-top bus is practically a tradition for cup winners and gives more people a better chance of seeing the lads with the trophy, but logistically it's a nightmare.

Having an event in one huge space makes sense but could limit a lot of people who perhaps can't make it to the Town Moor or get around the muddy field.

We're sure whatever they go with is going to be spectacular

Whatever they choose to go with will be an event for the ages we're sure, especially if Sela sticks their magic spoon into the pot to create something spectacular.

To be honest, the international break has probably played into the club's plans as it gives them more time to plan the perfect celebration.
