Newcastle United names Simon Capper as its new Chief Financial Officer (CFO)

NUFC have named Simon Capper as their new Chief Financial Officer (CFO). Capper moves from his former post as Finance Director at Leicester City Football Club, boasting a 16-year-long record of fostering business operations and organisational growth within football.

His previously had a stint as Finance Director at Sheffield United from 2007 to 2010 before he joined the Foxes, where he spent nearly 12 years. At the King Power Stadium, Capper played a key role in the club's development, contributing to a revenue increase of £180 million, which coincided with Leicester's astonishing Premier League title win in 2015/16.

Speaking to NUFC.co.uk, Capper expressed his delight at joining Newcastle, praising the club's drive to challenge the existing order in football and to establish a sustainable, top-ranking Premier League and European club. He also shared his excitement about returning to the north of England, recognising the warm and passionate community that he'll once again be a part of in the North East.

Born in Kingston, Jamaica, he studied Geography at Southampton University before starting his finance career with Touche Ross & Co (now Deloitte) in London. He later spent a decade in Zambia, initially with Deloitte, before managing the Arthur Andersen practice across East and Southern Africa for seven years.

Commenting on the new appointment, Darren Eales, Newcastle CEO, commended Capper's extensive experience and leadership in the football industry. He confirmed the new CFO would be vital in the club's senior management structure, overseeing financial operations as Newcastle United pursue commercial growth to ensure future success.
