Newcastle United find themselves in the Carabao Cup quarter-finals for the third season in a row after beating Chelsea at St James' Park last Wednesday.

The Magpies prize for beating the Blues was a home tie against Brentford. Only Premier League sides remain in the competition so there were no 'easy' draws per se, but out of the teams that were left, Brentford at home was about as good as it gets.

The quarter-final ties were pencilled in for week commencing 16th December 2024 and now we know exactly when the tie will take place.

Newcastle United announced the fixture confirmation via their official site on Wednesday.

Newcastle and Brentford will meet in the Carabao Cup quarter final

Newcastle United's official website confirmed the following details

A date has been set for Newcastle United's Carabao Cup quarter-final against Brentford.

The Magpies beat Chelsea 2-0 to book their place in the last eight of the competition for the third year in a row, having earlier seen off Nottingham Forest and AFC Wimbledon in the second and third rounds respectively.

They will now face the Bees at St. James' Park for a place in the two-legged semi-final, with that game now confirmed for 7:45pm GMT on Wednesday, 18th December.

The tie will also be broadcast live on Sky Sports+.

Any further details concerning the game, including ticket information, will be confirmed in due course.

Newcastle will be looking to go a step further than two seasons ago and bring home the trophy

As with every Carabao Cup game this season the match can be watched live via Sky Sports+ if you're unable to get a ticket to the game.

Newcastle crashed out of the competition at this stage last season when Chelsea needed a late equaliser and a penalty shootout to send us out of the cup after we had already knocked out both Manchester clubs.

The Magpies will be hoping to replicate the 2022/23 season feat of reaching the final at Wembley but coming home with the trophy this time.
