Newcastle United are in full-on summer preparation mode with new names appearing on the Magpies radar each day as the League Cup winners look to expand their squad to build on this season's success.
The Magpies can still claw more success from this season after already having lifted a trophy. Newcastle are still well in the mix for a spot in the Champions League which would definitely help the club to acquire their primary targets this summer.
Newcastle will play in the Europa Conference League regardless of what happens in the Premier League now, but if the Magpies really want to send a message to their competitors, bagging a Champions League place would be the way to go about it.
Doing so would also guarantee more money coming into the club next season which will allow Paul Mitchell more freedom to spend money on a big recruitment drive this summer.
As we know, right wing is a real problem area for Newcastle right now with only Jacob Murphy to choose from, and while Newcastle were linked today with a move for Sporting's Francisco Trincao, The Boot Room are now also linking the Magpies with Villarreal's Spanish international Yeremy Pino.
The 22-year-old who has 14 caps and three goals for Spain has five assists and a goal in La Liga this season for Villarreal and his performances are catching the eye of clubs around Europe.
Arsenal and Aston VIlla are also said to be keen on Pino who has a reported £67 million release clause in his current deal.
Pino has been likened to Jadon Sancho according to TBR, but hopefully, he will have more success in the Premier League than Sancho did after his return to England.
Newcastle are said to be working on a deal for Pino, but we suspect that their starting bid will be way below the £67 million asking price which would see him become the club's most expensive signing, topping the £63 million we paid for Alexander Isak.
The jury is still out on this one, both in terms of the validity of the story and whether Pino would be a good signing. We have to be honest, we don't know a great deal about him, but 14 caps for Spain does suggest he's got something about him.
