Newcastle United have 'initiated contact' over possible move for £76m PSG striker according to reports from Italy
Hugo Ekitike appears to be finalising his move to Liverpool after Newcastle United walked away from a deal with Eintracht Frankfurt.
Newcastle must continue their search for a striker to come in and support Alexander Isak, if we manage to keep hold of him this summer, that is.
There have been several players linked with the Magpies from Brentford's Yoane Wissa to RB Leipzig's Benjamin Sesko, so while there's understandable frustration in and around the club right now, they're not having to turn to the bargain bin just yet.
Indeed, Tuttosport are now saying that Newcastle are looking to bring in PSG forward Randal Kolo Muani and have initiated talks.
Randal Kolo Muani is expected to leave PSG this summer
Manchester United are also thought to be keen on the 26-year-old, who spent the second half of last season on loan at Juventus, where he scored 10 goals and provided three assists in 24 outings for the Italians, adding to the two goals and one assist he bagged for PSG before his loan move.
Randal Kolo Muani signed for PSG from Eintracht Frankfurt in 2023 for £76 million, but he hasn't been able to nail down a starting spot for the French champions, which saw him offered out by PSG in January, with Newcastle approached, before he landed at Juventus.
Now it looks as though he's likely to be on the move this summer, and after losing out on Joao Pedro, Liam Delap and Hugo Ekitike, the Magpies could be looking to land Muani after striking up an interest in the forward back in his days at Frankfurt, with Foot Mercato suggesting contact has been made.
Links to Randal Kolo Muani are nothing new for Newcastle
Randal Kolo Muani has been linked with Newcastle plenty of times before, so it does feel like there could be some truth to this one. The big question is what would PSG demand for the man they spent £76 million on just two years ago?
The fact that he's not in their plans should knock some money off, but they are still going to want to recoup a large chunk of their initial outlay.
Of course, the fact that Manchester United are also sniffing around is a problem, as we've already seen them barge us out of the way for one player by throwing insane money at them.
