Newcastle United have held talks with Inter Milan midfielder over potential last-minute move - journalist
There have been plenty of reports from Italy that Newcastle United are trying to sign Inter Milan midfielder Davide Frattesi, with some outlets going as far as reporting that a bid has been made.
Sources closer to home suggest that no bid has actually been made for the 25-year-old Italian, but Graeme Bailey has told TBR Football that talks have taken place.
There is thought to be a genuine interest from Newcastle in the midfielder, but things aren't as far down the line as the Italian media would like us to believe.
We're just amazed that the Italian press haven't managed to weave a Sandro Tonali swap narrative into it.
Newcastle want to loan Davide Frattesi from Inter Milan
As things stand, there has been no official offer by Newcastle, who are reportedly looking for a loan deal for Frattesi.
Inter Milan seems receptive, but according to The Times, they want Newcastle to include a £35 million option to buy into the deal.
It sounds like a cost-effective way to get another midfielder through the door before the window closes.
We'd love to see Harvey Elliott included in the Alexander Isak deal
That being said, we'd still like to see Newcastle get Liverpool to include Harvey Elliot in the deal that will take Alexander Isak to Anfield.
We're not sure how likely that would be, but we know Newcastle have been monitoring Elliott this summer, and we're sure Liverpool wouldn't mind saving a few million quid by including a player as part of the deal.
Not that we feel we should be doing Liverpool any favours, but at least we get something else out of losing our star player to a direct rival.
