Positive talks over a move between Newcastle United and Crystal Palace over Marc Guehi have taken place, according to reports.

The Magpies are keen on signing the 24-year-old who looks tipped for a move away from Selhurst Park this summer following a successful campaign in this summer's European Championships.

Guehi featured in all but one of the Three Lions memorable run of games which saw them heartbroken in the final against Spain.

Newcastle have been working on bringing Guehi in for the last couple weeks and have had two offers rejected by the Eagles.

Newcastle are still far off Crystal Palace's valuation of Marc Guehi

Last week it was reported that the Magpies had placed a bid in the region of £40million for Guehi which was quickly knocked back by Palace.

Since then, talks continued with Guehi reportedly telling his representatives that he wants to move to Newcastle and is urging them to make the move happen as soon as possible.

The Magpies have since returned with an improved offer thought to be in the region of £50m but again that was knocked back by Palace.

Now, according to Mark Douglas of the I, Newcastle have held positive talks with Palace for Guehi with sporting director Paul Mitchell clearly working hard on incomings ahead of the new season.

How much will it take to sign Marc Guehi?

Crystal Palace aren't budging on their valuation of one of their biggest assets.

This summer, they sold Michael Olise who was a target for Newcastle to Bayern Munich for £50m.

Unfortunately for the Magpies, it'll take much more for Guehi. Palace are holding out for a fee of £65m for the 24-year-old who spent a large portion of last season on the sidelines through injury.

Instead of paying a flat fee, Newcastle could look to propose a large sum with at least £10m add-ons.
