Newcastle United fans watching the FA Cup fourth round draw tonight had to wait until the bitter end as the number 15 ball representing the Magpies was the last ball drawn.

The only other ball in the bowl by that time was that of Fulham who came out first meaning we now have to travel to Craven Cottage for our next cup adventure.

There were a few "easy" sides left in the draw, the likes of Maidstone and Eastleigh, but it wouldn't be Newcastle United if we didn't draw a Premier League side away from home, would it?

Newcastle have the beating of Fulham head-to-head

If we're going to win a trophy we have to beat the top teams at some point, so we can't groan too much.

Newcastle have the edge over Fulham in the head-to-head coming out on top 10 times to Fulham's eight in 21 meetings, so that's some comfort.

The next round of fixtures is to be played over the weekend of 27th and 28th January, so we don't have long to wait to get our team patched up and working again with the likes of Joe Willock, and Harvey Barnes expected to be back in action by the end of this month.

Newcastle can win away in the domestic cups

Newcastle's dire away form hasn't really carried into cup competition, at least not domestic cup competition as demonstrated on Saturday with a 3-0 win over Sunderland. So that should give the lads another confidence boost going in.

There is a nice two week break coming up for Eddie Howe and his men and that January break has been good for Newcastle in the past, so we could come out firing on all cylinders against Fulham.

It might just be that we're still riding the wave of the derby win on Saturday, but confidence is high.
