Newcastle United are likely going to have to replace Kieran Trippier this summer as the 35-year-old's contract expires at the end of this season.

There's still a chance that the former England full-back is offered an extension, given his high involvement this season, but the feeling around the club of late is that he's more likely to be allowed to leave.

On top of that, there are fears that Manchester City will be successful in their pursuit of Tino Livramento, which will leave Eddie Howe in desperate need of a new right-back in the summer.

It appears that the club may already have their eye on someone to come in who could cost Newcastle around £35 million.

Newcastle want Julian Ryseron of Borussia Dortmund

SportsBoom claims that Newcastle and Manchester United are both keen on Borussia Dortmund's Norwegian full-back Julian Ryerson.

They believe that the lure of the Premier League could push Ryserson towards wanting to leave Dortmund, who are keen to keep hold of him.

The 28-year-old has seven assists in 19 Bundesliga games this season, which is a very good record for a full-back and something Newcastle could certainly do with adding to the team if Trippier and Livramento were both to depart.

Manchester United will be a tough opponent in the pursuit of Julian Ryerson's signature

The £35 million price tag may be a tad off-putting given his age, but it sounds like there could be room to negotiate if Ryerson tells Dortmund he wants the move.

Going up against Manchester United could be a problem, though. We underestimated their draw in the summer and learned some tough lessons.

We also need to be very wary of the step up from the Bundesliga to the Premier League. Good numbers in Germany don't always translate to good numbers in England.
