Newcastle United fans treated to strange sight in City Centre yesterday as former Toon hero put on show

It's not every day you see a former Newcastle United hero sitting in the middle of Newcastle city centre playing an instrument, entertaining the people of the Toon.

You'd be forgiven if your first instinct was to picture Nolberto Solano stationed up at Grey's Monument with his trumpet, and while you wouldn't be far off, you would be wrong.

Indeed, the sighting occurred at Grey's Monument, and it was a former Newcastle winger, but it was none other than our former Premier League saviour, Jonas Gutierrez rocking on his guitar.

Despite the way Jonas was treated by Mike Ashley towards the end of his Newcastle career and following his recovery from cancer, the Argentine still has a lot of love for the City.

Jonas Gutierrez is a Geordie

When I first saw the post on X from Murph last night I thought it was just a really eerie look-a-like, but then he started singing in Spanish and it sunk in that it really was the man himself.

Just for confirmation, Jonas had posted the video himself to Instagram, confirming that it was indeed him, along with a message for the Geordie people.

"My City , my home. I Am a geordie I Love this City I Love this people. Thanks for everything @nufc a dream come true playing guitar at the monument."

Can we get the Jonas and Nobby duet we all deserve?

Newcastle fans have so much love for Jonas and were absolutely disgusted at Mike Ashley's actions, releasing him from the club via text after the man came back from cancer and scored the goal that kept us in the Premier League.

Thankfully, Jonas didn't tar the city and its people with the same brush as that much maligned cartoon villain that used to own our beloved football club.

Now, how do we go about getting him and Nobby together to busk on the streets as a duo?
