Newcastle United midfielder Joelinton may be injured and unavailable, but it didn't stop him from stealing the show at St James' Park this afternoon.

Eddie Howe's men beat Chelsea 2-0 at St James' Park today, moving one step closer to the Champions League.

Goals from Sandro Tonali and Bruno Guimaraes were enough for Eddie Howe's boys to put daylight between themselves and today's opponents in the Premier League.

However, as the lads on the pitch did their part to keep Geordie spirits high, it was Joelinton watching from the stands who truly had the fans cheering.

Joelinton has been shopping at the NUFC Club Shop

Joelinton was spotted in the crowd alongside his wife, Thays, both wearing the retro 1996 Adidas Newcastle United home shirt with Joelinton sporting Shearer 9 on the back.

How many times do you see a player rock up to a game they aren't even involved in, still wearing the team colours? Not even just some of the training gear from the current season, but he's gone out of his way to pick up a retro shirt.

As much as Newcastle United fans love Joelinton, it definitely seems like Joelinton loves the club just as much. He's definitely going to be another player who refers to Newcastle as 'we' long after he's hung up his boots.

We don't think we've seen the last of Joelinton this season

Eddie Howe has hinted that Joelinton may still return to action this season after initially writing off the Brazilian.

J7 went to see a specialist about his knee and has subsequently had injections after being told his injury isn't too serious and just requires rest.

Howe later admitted that Joelinton would return to the side if he were allowed, so it's probably just James Bunce standing in his way now.

We'd love to have him back, but we have proven in the last two games that we are capable without him. As much as we want him back, we'd rather he fully recovered so he was ready for what will be a massive season again, kicking off in August.
