Newcastle United have been waiting for Yoane Wissa to be given the go-ahead to leave Brentford, and now that the striker dominoes have started falling, that's expected to be soon.

Brentford had become resigned to the fact that Yoane Wissa wanted to leave this summer and, much like Alexander Isak at Newcastle, the DR Congo forward downed tools to make his point.

Yoane Wissa is seen as the replacement for Callum Wilson, who left Newcastle earlier in the summer upon the expiration of his contract, but while he would ultimately come in as the second-choice striker, he could be thrust into the forefront of Eddie Howe's plans.

Alexander Isak is expected to leave the club this summer, but even if not, he's still on strike and is therefore unavailable, and with a lack of other options, Wissa could be asked to step up and lead the line.

Things can finally move forward for Yoane Wissa's move to Newcastle

Newcastle had to wait for Brentford to bring a replacement before allowing Wissa to leave, and having identified Dango Ouattara as that man, Bournemouth were then left looking for a replacement for him before allowing him to go.

Those dominoes have now started to fall, and as such, Craig Hope believes Wissa's move to Tyneside will progress over the weekend, with the clubs still yet to agree a fee.

Yoane Wissa will need to get up to speed quickly

The problem with Wissa is that, like Isak, he downed tools in pre-season and hasn't trained fully, nor has he had much game time, so he will take a bit longer to get up to speed.

Unfortunately, Newcastle don't really have the luxury of time, as they desperately need a striker to hit the ground running, as Anthony Gordon is not the answer to our lack of centre forwards.

Thankfully, with Wissa, he does have plenty of Premier League experience, so it will just be a case of getting his match sharpness up, and the only way to do that is to play him in matches.

Hopefully everything moves quickly with this one.
