A huge claim has been made on social media today by a South Korean journalist who claims Newcastle United are set to make a signing from the K-League 2.

Newcastle are no strangers to finding top talent from around the globe and scooping them up at a young age to develop them on Tyneside with a view to becoming a future star.

Indeed, already this summer we've seen the arrival of 18-year-old Antonio Cordero, who has come in from Spain, while we're waiting for the arrival of another youngster in Vakhtang Salia from Georgia when he turns 18 at the end of August.

So while progress has been slow on first-team additions, we've been doing well at finding youngsters with high potential, and now reports from South Korea are suggesting that Newcastle could return from their summer tour in Asia with another player in tow.

Newcastle are set to sign Seung-soo Park, according to reports from Korea

Newcastle are reportedly set to sign 18-year-old winger Seung-soo Park, with the timing said to coincide with Newcastle's time in South Korea later this summer.

Park currently plays for Suwon Samsung Bluewings in K-League 2 and has played on both flanks for the Korean side, although his favoured position is left wing.

Last year, Seung-Soo Park was being tracked by Bayern Munich after being likened to Tottenham star Heung-min Son. It's also worth noting that in the post on X from last year that mentioned this, Park was identified as a striker, suggesting that the youngster is extremely versatile.

Seung-soo Park sounds like he could have a top future ahead of him

We're not going to pretend we've ever heard of this lad before, so we won't get too carried away with the rumours, but a "Son regen" isn't something that we should be turning our noses up at.

The post from Joel Kim on X does suggest that it's a move that is going to happen, but we'll have to wait and see.

It could be an exciting move for another young star with bags of potential, as long as he's managed properly. Now, where are the first-team signings?
