Newcastle United could reignite interest in Bundesliga star after asking price slashed dramatically
A quality central defender is very high on the list of priorities for Newcastle United this summer.
An ageing pool of players to pick from, mixed with a couple of injury-prone stars, has given Eddie Howe a bit of a headache lately, and it's one that he will look to address during the summer.
It's being heavily reported that Marc Guehi is once again the top pick for Eddie Howe, with Newcastle in a much stronger negotiating position this year than they were 12 months ago.
Other names remain in the frame, though, with the club looking to avoid a repeat of last year's madness.
Bayern Munich have shed over £12 million from Kim Min-Jae's asking price
Recently, the Magpies were linked with Bayern Munich's Kim Min-Jae, who was reportedly available for around £42 million.
Newcastle fans weren't so keen on the idea at that time, given Kim Min-Jae's drop-off in form and the fact that he's 28, both suggesting that the asking price is way too high.
However, Bayern have now slashed their asking price to £29.5 million according to Caught Offside.
Guess who else is looking at Kim Min-Jae
Liverpool and, of course, Chelsea could be Newcastle's opposition if they were to make a move, with Caught Offside claiming that Kim is interested in a move to the Premier League.
They do note, however, that no decision has been made on Kim's future, but with such a dramatic price slice, it would suggest that Bayern are hoping for a sale.
At sub-£30 million, Kim Min-Jae could be a good addition to Eddie Howe's squad. If Liverpool and Chelsea are tracking him, then they must have faith that the South Korean can regain his form, too.
We've been linked with worse players, that's for sure.
